Cupcake Display Stands & Arrays

A cupcake display stand is a stepped acrylic array holding cupcakes at ascending levels so the back rows stay visible from the front of the counter. Capacity figures are for drilled-seat layouts at the footprints shown. Flat-step versions hold fewer cups at the same footprint because the rows need clearance to be lifted out cleanly.

Dessert Display Risers & Covered Stands

A dessert display riser is a clear acrylic platform that lifts plated desserts, verrines, and macaron trays to different heights across a counter or buffet run. Wetop supplies them as graduated nesting sets, and builds covered stands where a plate ships with a matched lift-off dome. MOQ 100 pieces or sets per design, samples in 3–5 days.

Covered Cake Stands

A plate with a matched lift-off cover — round dome or square box — for counters near an open storefront door, a self-service aisle, or anywhere a health inspector will ask about handling. Cover and plate are cut and quoted as one design, so the fit is confirmed on the sample rather than assumed.

Covers add material and a second polishing pass, so they move the unit price. Where dust rather than handling is the concern, a lower-cost route is a shared multi-item cover over a stand group; tell us which problem you are solving and we quote both.

Nesting Riser Sets

Four-piece graduated sets in square, rectangular, or open-bottom U profiles. One set is one design for MOQ purposes, so 100 sets meets the minimum regardless of how many pieces sit inside each set.

Common heights: 60, 100, 150, and 200 mm at a 200 mm square footprint for counter work; 100, 150, 200, and 250 mm at 300 mm square for buffet runs. Both are starting points — send the counter or table depth and we size the set to it.

Load, Stability, and Cleaning in Daily Service

Plate thickness sets what a cake stand carries; washing method sets how long it stays clear. As a starting reference, an acrylic plate holds under 2 kg at 5 mm, under 5 kg at 8 mm, and under 12 kg at 12 mm, measured as evenly distributed load before visible deflection. Hand-wash only — no acrylic cake stand is dishwasher-safe.

Loads are evenly distributed weight before visible deflection. A whole two-layer 250 mm cake typically lands in the 2–3 kg band, which is why 8 mm rather than 3–5 mm is the commercial default. Send the heaviest item the stand carries and we spec against it.

Three Things That Decide Whether a Stand Tips

Base footprint versus top plate

A tall stand with a base narrower than its top plate will tip when someone reaches across it. We size the base to the largest plate and the stand height, and say so on the quote when a requested proportion will not stand up in service.

Where the weight sits

Load concentrated at one edge of a plate deflects it long before an evenly spread load of the same weight does. Cake boards spread the load; a single heavy slice at the rim does not.

Column joint and hardware

Threaded columns loosen with repeated assembly. For fleets that break down after every event we spec a captive nut or step you to a bonded base instead, rather than shipping something that works for a month.

Washing and Food Contact

Putting Your Mark on a Stand That Gets Wiped Daily

Branded cake stands carry a logo by UV printing, silk-screen, or laser engraving. Which one survives depends on how the stand is cleaned, not on how it looks on the sample: engraving cuts into the acrylic and cannot abrade off, while printed and screened marks sit on the surface. What Affects Custom Cake Stand Pricing?

Custom acrylic cake stand pricing moves on plate size and thickness, tier count and construction, branding, and order quantity. Diamond polishing is included as standard on every plate and column. Plate Size & Thickness

The largest material driver. A 400 mm plate uses roughly four times the sheet of a 200 mm plate, and stepping from 8 mm to 12 mm adds half again on top of that. Large plates usually need the thicker sheet, so the two costs arrive together.

Tier Count & Construction

Each added tier is another cut, another polish pass, and another joint. A turned threaded column costs more than a bonded pedestal foot; flat-pack interlocking construction costs less to ship but more to machine.

Branding & Finish

Laser engraving is the lowest-cost mark and the most durable in daily-wipe service. UV printing carries full color and costs more per pass. Frosted, smoke, and mirrored sheet run above clear.

Order Quantity

Do you manufacture cake stands in-house, or are you a trading company?

In-house. Wetop has owned and run its Shenzhen plant since 2008 — today 5,000 m², ISO 9001 certified, 65+ workers, 2,000+ custom projects. Cutting, column turning, solvent bonding, edge polishing, UV printing, and final inspection all happen on our own floor. That matters on cake stands more than on flat products, because the questions buyers ask — will a 350mm top plate flex under a two-layer cake, will the column stay square after bonding — get answered by the crew that will turn, bond, and polish the actual parts instead of being relayed through a sales office.

What is the minimum order for custom acrylic cake stands?

MOQ is 100 pieces per design. A program running three plate diameters counts as three designs, so 3 × 100. A tiered stand supplied as a kit — plates plus column plus hardware — counts as one design at 100 sets, however many parts are in the set. Paid samples ship in 3–5 days and production runs 15–20 days. If your first store test needs fewer than 100 units, order the sample, prove the format on one counter, then place the production run against the approved sample.

How does bulk pricing work across quantity tiers?

Cutting, polishing, bonding, and packaging setup spread across the run, so unit price steps down at each quantity tier. The steepest drop comes in the first few hundred pieces above the 100-piece minimum, and cost keeps easing above that. Ask us to quote several tiers — for example 250, 500, and 1,000 pieces — inside one quotation so you can see the curve rather than guess at it. Multi-location programs ordering several stand sizes in the same material and process can pool those quantities toward better tier pricing; send the full size list and we quote it as one program instead of separate small orders.

Can you quote DDP to our distribution center instead of FOB?

Yes. FOB Shenzhen is the default figure, and we quote DDP to the distribution center next to it so you can compare true landed cost rather than estimate the freight leg yourself. On a DC program the part that decides whether the delivery goes smoothly is inside the container: stands packed per store rather than per size, every carton labeled with the store code and the count it holds, so your receiving team cross-docks instead of unpacking and re-sorting on the floor. If the program feeds more than one DC, send the split and we price each drop separately — multi-warehouse routing is usually where DDP earns its premium over a single-port FOB number. Payment terms do not change with the incoterm — 30% deposit before production, 70% balance before shipment, by T/T, PayPal, or Western Union.

Do cake stands need food-grade acrylic?

It depends on whether food touches the acrylic. A stand holding a plated cake, a cake board, or cupcakes in liners is not a food-contact article, so standard cast acrylic is the correct spec. A plate that unwrapped cake sits directly on is a food-contact article and should be cut from a documented food-grade sheet — permitted under FDA 21 CFR 177.1010 in the US and Regulation (EU) 10/2011 in Europe. Tell us which case applies on the RFQ and we specify the sheet accordingly and supply the material's food-contact declaration with the quote. What sizes and tier counts can you build?

Round plates from 150mm to 400mm diameter and square plates from 150mm to 400mm per side are the range we cut most often, in 2 to 5 tiers, with overall heights from about 150mm for a single dessert riser to 600mm for a five-tier banquet stand. Larger plates are possible — beyond 400mm the plate needs to step up in thickness or gain a support ring, and we say so on the quote rather than after. Send the cake or dessert dimensions and the counter depth you have to work with, and we recommend the plate diameter and spacing.

How much weight will a tiered acrylic cake stand actually hold?

Per plate, and it tracks thickness the same way our risers do: 5mm carries under 2kg, 6mm under 3kg, 8mm under 5kg, 10mm under 8kg, and 12mm under 12kg, measured as evenly distributed load before visible deflection. A whole two-layer 250mm cake typically lands in the 2–3kg band, which is why 8mm is our default for commercial tiered stands rather than the 3–5mm used on consumer retail stands. Send us the heaviest item the stand has to carry and we spec the plate thickness against it, then build that spec into the sample you approve.

Can you add our logo, and which branding method holds up in service?

Yes — UV printing, silk-screen, and laser engraving are all available. For cake stands specifically, laser engraving on the column or the plate underside is the method we recommend for anything that gets wiped down several times a day, because there is no ink layer to abrade. UV printing gives full-color logos and is the right call on column faces, base plates, and stands that live inside a chilled case. Silk-screen suits single-color marks in high volume. Branding adds 1–2 days to production, not more.

How are commercial acrylic cake stands cleaned, and what will damage them?

Hand-wash in warm water with mild dish soap and a soft cloth. No acrylic cake stand is dishwasher-safe: PMMA's heat-deflection temperature is roughly 96 °C, and a hot wash-dry cycle pairs that heat with aggressive detergents — the combination that crazes acrylic into permanent hairline cracks. Ammonia-based glass cleaner and alcohol wipes cause the same crazing over time. For chains that need a faster reset between services, we build stands with lift-off plates so a soiled plate swaps out and gets washed off the floor.

What is the difference between a cake stand and a dessert display riser?

A cake stand raises one item on a defined plate — a cake, a tart, a stack of cupcakes — and is usually a bonded or column-assembled unit sized to that item. A dessert display riser is a platform that lifts whatever is placed on it, sized to the counter rather than to the food, and is normally supplied as a nesting or stepped set. Buyers often order both for the same counter: stands for the hero items, risers to build height across the rest of the run.
